Loft conversions at Taylor & Coles
Loft conversions are a very effective way of adding a whole new floor to your home, maximising the footprint of your house and often adding up to 25% to your property’s value.
Depending on the type of conversion you want, and the size of your property, loft conversions often take anywhere between 7-13 weeks to complete.
The cost of a loft conversion can vary massively depending on what you want and the finish you are looking for.
At Taylor & Coles we have a very specific quoting process, and in order to give you an accurate quote we would need to do a site visit (a chance for us to meet and discuss the finer details of your project) and have plans and structural calculations. We are happy to recommend an independant structural plans draughtsman if you need one.
“Taylor and Coles have finished our loft to an exceptional standard… involved us at every stage of decision making… were flexible, customer-centred… I would highly recommend them.”

Our lofts through the stages
What do you need to think about when considering a loft conversion?
We are more than happy to guide you through the process with no obligation – we find it is much more important to ensure you have good and trustworthy information to ensure you make the right decisions.
Check with planning
Most loft conversions are within what is termed ‘permitted development’ (ie you do not need planning permission), however if you are in a conservation area you may be restricted on what you can build – it is always good to check.
Get plans and structural calcs drawn
This is a very important step in the construction process, but is also needed to allow accurate quoting.
Get a range of quotes from different firms
Its important that all the way through the process you feel incharge and are making the choices – a range of quotes help you get a feel for the market and what you could get from your investment. Remember, get a good feel for the ‘people’ behind the firm with all your quotes, they will be in your home for 7-13 weeks and you need to be confident they are the right people for you
