In the Autumn of 2018 we took on a loft conversion for Jim & Jo on Milner Road. With chimney flues in the way, cranked steels to install and a property that was narrower at the front than the back, this project offered the type of interesting challenge we love at Taylor & Coles.
Jim & Jo were kind enough to leave us a great review on Google
Taylor and Coles carried out the dormer loft conversion at our house last winter. We had a number of site visits and quotes from different contractors, all of whom were pretty similar price wise. We were immediately struck by the clarity and detail of Andy and Pete’s quote, and their personable can-do attitude really came across at our first meetings, making them the obvious choice to carry out the works.
Andy’s management of the project was impeccable, updating us daily on how the job was progressing, giving us plenty of notice to make decisions on things like types of windows, positions of radiators etc and maintaining a clear line of communication between us and the subcontractors carrying out the additional works.
The unusual layout of the existing loft space required the removal of a section of the chimney breast to make room for the new staircase, and the installation of a special cranked steel joist. A complicated, messy and arduous task which the lads managed to do without any disruption or mess anywhere else in the house. This was a prime example of how they carry out their work, with efficiency care and respect. No work was done without screening off areas prone to dust and then obsessive vacuum cleaning by Andy afterwards. I have to say it was a bittersweet experience when the lads finally finished and cleared out as we’d grown fond of having them around. Plus it was now back on us to do the hoovering. Put simply. We cannot recommend Taylor and Coles highly enough. We’ll definitely be engaging their services for the continuing work we’ll be doing in our house.Jim & jo – milner Road
